Frequently Asked Questions

What conditions do you treat?

Anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma-related disorders and adjustment challenges. I especially enjoy working with people in transitions, including students and young adults finding their footing, parents of young children, adults facing serious medical illness, and those carrying the emotional weight of caring for someone who is ill.

What is your approach to care?

Warm, curious, and collaborative. I bring a whole-person lens that considers the connection between physical and mental health, our relationships, and the systems we live within, and incorporates evidence-based lifestyle changes alongside psychiatric care. This approach is rooted in my original training as a family nurse practitioner.

Do you provide therapy?

My primary offering is medication management with integrated supportive counseling according to your needs and preferences. I draw from evidence-based approaches including mindfulness; motivational interviewing; dialectical and acceptance-based therapies; and strengths-based and solution-focused frameworks, woven into medication management visits. I also enjoy collaborating with patients who are already working with a therapist, and I welcome patients who are still deciding whether medication is right for them.

What about ADHD and stimulant medications?

Stimulant medications are not something I offer in this setting. That said, attention difficulties are often a symptom of treatable conditions like anxiety, depression, or sleep disruption, and those are absolutely conditions that I manage in my practice.

Who are you best able to serve?

Adults 18 and older who want a thoughtful, collaborative approach to psychiatric care. My practice works best for patients who can be safely managed in a solo, limited-hours setting. I refer services for patients with recent psychiatric hospitalizations, chronic or active suicidality, active psychosis, or needs that require intensive team-based support as those patients deserve more comprehensive care than I can provide here.

Are you affirming of diverse identities and backgrounds?

Absolutely. I work with and deeply value patients of all races, ethnicities, identities, relationship structures, and life experiences.

In-person or telehealth?

Both. My Berkeley office is close to public transit with free and metered parking nearby. Please note the office requires climbing stairs, so telehealth is a great option for patients for whom that is a barrier. I am licensed to see patients in California only.

Do you accept insurance?

I am currently in network with Optum/United Healthcare, Aetna, Evernorth/Cigna, and Anthem Blue Cross. If I am not in your network, I can provide you with a superbill for you to submit to your insurer for reimbursement.
